T7 Ride - Testing the SkyDio 2 Drone

The snow is finally starting to melt in the Rockies and we went out for a ride on the T7. We were testing out the new SkyDio 2's tracking capabilities. It didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped, I need to spend some more time with it to get it figured out.

Euro-5 Yamaha 700 Tenere Gut Guard Skid Plate

Many of you know that the European 2021.5 T7 now has the Euro 5 emissions package. The catalytic convertor was moved from the footpeg area to about 10" from the cylinder head. This was done so the catalyst material heats up faster. The move means cleaner running bikes which is great but it means that none of the skid plates from the Euro 4 bikes fit. We've designed a new skid plate to work with the Euro 5 header. We had to lengthen the skid plate moving it forward. On top of working with the new header pipe, you can now do an oil change without removing the skid plate. There are some other small changes too. The new plate will work...

T7 Camel Tank Install

Since the 700 Tenere was officially announced in late 2017, it’s created quite a stir in the adventure bike community. Boasting a great list of features and specs this bike seems ready to conquer the ADV world! However, as the saying goes, “When you’re exploring, you can never have too much water unless you’re drowning or enough gas unless you’re on fire!”. We can’t help you with the water but we definitely can with the fuel. Placed on the left side of the bike, opposite of the exhaust will sit your Camel Tank. Occupying otherwise unused space, the tank adds 5 Litres (1.3 gal) of extra fuel to your capacity for a total of 21 litres. That's an additional 80-120...

T7 Camel Toe Side Stand Install

The Camel Toe Side Stand for the 700 Tenere is a direct replacement for the factory cast aluminum stand. Do you climb on your bike while the side stand is down? Go for it. Use your bike's side stand to break the bead on your friend's flat tire, no problem! Lowered your bike and need a shorter kickstand? We have you covered! Our side stand uses a steel CNC machined mounting lug that's TIG welded to heavy wall DOM tubing. At the base is a large camel foot that is almost twice the size of the stock pad. No need for a foot enlarger here! Each side stand is powder-coated to ensure durability and a great look. Available in 3...

CameL ADV High Exhaust T7 Install

There are so many things to love about the Yamaha 700 Tenere! Unfortunately, the exhaust is a bit of a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde situation. It looks and sounds amazing but it has a dark side. It's located low and wide and is mounted on a very long exhaust hanger that's welded to the subframe. When the bike is dropped on the right side, the mount can be bent which allows the muffler to be pushed into the side of the swingarm. If it is not bent back before being ridden, the aluminum swingarm gets chewed up by the steel muffler (see photo below). Adding insult to injury, if you bend the hanger enough times, it can crack at...

690 Crash

We were riding down a fire road in British Columbia, just before a slight right-hand curve in the road, there was a water bar (small drainage ditch) cut in. The rider on the 690 didn't see it due to dust. He hit it, lost control, and ended up in the left side ditch. He was OK but there was a lot of damage to his bike. The bike's handlebars were wedged behind a stump on one side and a 3" diameter tree on the other side. It was jammed in such a way that we needed to cut the tree to get the bike out.
