Yamaha T7 Suspension Upgrade Episode 7: Wrap It up
Episode 7 of our T7 suspension upgrade. The original upper shock mount is out so it's time to get the new ones in so we can finally get the new TFX shock installed. We weld the new ones in, deal with the airbox clearance, modify the rear brake line holder, clearance the suspension pivot and make a very simple mount for the shock's reservoir.
Yamaha T7 Suspension Upgrade Episode 6: Frame Prep
I need to cut the old shock off the frame to make way for the new one required for the custom length TFX shock. I prep the frame in this episode.
Yamaha T7 Suspension Upgrade Episode 5: Fork Wrap-Up
I go over some of the internal changes in the forks. Unfortunately, I had more video camera issues again so some of the footage was lost.
I went over the oil lock/hydro lock system. Explained the changes to the spring perches and shimmed the lugs and fork tubes. Forks were assembled and installed. The fork guard mounting brackets had to be trimmed to clear the forks at full compression.
Yamaha T7 Suspension Upgrade Part 4: Triple Clamp Install
I had lots of technical issues with the recording equipment on this episode so it skips around a bit.
We got the front axle, fork lug, lower triple and steering stem back from the machine shop. The triples are now installed and I test fit the fork. Some minor challenges but overall I'm happy with how it's coming together.
T7 Suspension Upgrade Part 3: The F&*k Up Episode
A look at the new triple clamps, fork lugs and some of the small mess-ups we made when drawing them in SolidWorks.
R1200GS Camel Tow Recovery System
This a ridiculous idea I had for an R1200GS recovery system awhile ago. We're using the bike's rear wheel to spin a small winch drum and pull the bike through obstacles.
The R1200GS is a great bike but like all ADV bikes, heavy. When you get a 550-600lb bike stuck, it's a hassle to get it out. Our rear wheel winch makes quick work of that problem!
700 Tenere High Fender Kit Install
This video is a combination of the previous part 1 and part 2 videos. Some people love the look of the factory low fender on the Yamaha 700 Tenere, not us, we much prefer the more aggressive look of the high supermoto style fender! Whether you like high fenders just for the look or because you don't want the front wheel balled up when riding in sticky mud, we have you covered! Our T7 high fender kit's crown jewel is the anodized billet aluminum fender adaptor/brake manifold. This piece looks killer and serves 2 important functions: -The T7's rad is very close to the front wheel so you can't simply bolt a fender to the four threaded holes on the...
Yamaha T7 Supension Upgrade Part 2: New SSS Lugs
On part 2 of our Yamaha 700 Tenere suspension upgrade, we install the new fork lugs and loosely assemble the forks.
700 Tenere Anti-Bobble-Head Install
The first thing we noticed when we rode the new T7 is that the gauge cluster looked like it wasn't even bolted to the bike. Did someone on the assembly line forget some fasteners? The T7 is a great bike... why is the cluster trying to jump off?! Why does the headlight look like a strobe light at night when traveling down a rough road? Great news, they don't need to do that. With our Anti-Bobble-Head (ABH) installed, the gauges stay where they should and the headlight will no longer induce seizures (hyperbole). Constructed of 304 stainless steel that's TIG welded then powder-coated, the ABH brackets look great, are easy to install and really firm up the front end of...
Yamaha T7 Suspension Upgrade Part 1: KYB SSS Fork Lug Removal
We've got some cool new parts in the works for our Yamaha 700 Tenere. If they work well for us, they may make it into production.
We are upgrading suspension to KYB SSS forks from a YZ450F and a custom length shock from TFX in the Netherlands. In order to install our new fork lugs onto the KYB fork tubes, we had to remove the existing lugs. It's a bit involved but it turned out well after a few tips and tricks from George at Suspension 101 in Alpine, California.
