The KTM 790/890 ADV has been a solid performer since its launch in early 2019. There's tons of cool new tech on the bike that hasn't been seen on an ADV bike from the Austrian brand before. Unfortunately, the designers stuck with the weak, problematic headlight/gauge cluster mounting setup on the 1090/1190/1290 line. 

Everything ahead of the steering stem hangs off four little metal posts welded to the bike's head tube. The lower support bars the designers added to the 790/890 have done little to beef up the mounting points. The 790/890's headlight set-up is quite heavy. Add to that the gauge cluster, windscreen, lower wind deflectors, signal lights, etc, and you have a lot of weight hanging off these weak mounting points.

Over rough terrain, these posts see a lot of stress and eventually snap off. This is a problem for several reasons. The broken posts must be welded back onto the frame, leading to less-than-ideal backwoods repair jobs (see welding pic below). Another issue is the bike's immobilizer system resides under the headlight. When the headlight assembly snaps off, the wires of the immobilizer can be damaged, leaving you with a broken mount and a dead bike.

The Camel ADV 790/890 Neck Brace supports the four troublesome mounting posts by tying them together and attaching them to a mounting tab behind the bike's head tube. This keeps the posts from flexing and breaking off.

The 790/890 Neck Brace is made from 11ga 304 Stainless Steel powder-coated for a great look and excellent durability. Its minimalist design provides all the strength you need while keeping the weight as low as possible. Installation takes only a few minutes.

Fitting issue

On my 2023 890 S there is a thin bracket between the rear of the braces which impedes the supplied bolt. I had to use a round file on it to clear the way to do up the bolt.

After my headlight mount broke on my 790S I had it re-welded and added the Camel brace for extra security. I had originally thought I could do without the brace as I am not riding this bike that hard but I was wrong.

24’ KTM 790 ADV - Neck Brace

Was really excited to hear how poorly KTM put this bike together so I was happy to hear that Camel ADV had a fix for the neck of this bike. After taking the one side of the bolts out on the neck I had a struggle to get the bolts back in. Overall glad I got it done

Great design, perfect fit

I have a number of Camel ADV products, and like usual, this fits perfect. Love the simple to install design and no longer have to worry about breaking the front end off my new bike. I have seen in person what happens if you ride hard off-road without these, my riding friend had to limp out of Colorado with a bunch of zip ties holding his on.

Perfect fix!

By the time I decided to investigate the reason for my shaky headlight cluster, I discovered that one of the upper attachments had sheared off, but this brace secured everything perfectly, and appears to prevent any further problems. Given the bike’s weak design in this regard, I would recommend you do it preemptively!
