Ducati Dirty Dozen - Episode 3
We wrap up the Ducati Dirty Dozen with a failed attempt at Black Bear Pass. It was closed due to "An unstable rock face." Technically, the pass was open all the way to the summit but closed on the San Miguel County side. There was a locked gate a few hundred meters from the summit on the San Juan County side. We rode to the sign and turned back.
We spent the night in Silverton, then rode Engineer Pass from the Poughkeepsie Gulch side. We'd been up Engineer Pass a couple times previously, but all were from the Animas Forks side, which is much mellower.

Just a stupid hill that we've been battling with for a couple years. It's steep, loose, rocky and rooty.

Icy Hill - ADV Recovery
Riding late in the season has some unique challenges. We were having an unusually warm fall/winter so far, and we rode far later in the year as a result. We rode for an hour or so without any drama, then slid down this icy two-track. It wasn't exactly a skating rink, but it was just icy enough to cause us some grief. Luckily, my van was a short distance away, and I had a bunch of rope, carabiners, and two small pulleys. Once we got my bike up the hill, I went to get the recovery gear.

Yamaha T7 Side Stand Safety Switch Bypass Plug Install
A broken side stand safety switch can leave you stranded! Our simple plug will bypass the switch and keep you riding through the rough stuff.
The installation is easy to do, but it does require the removal of the left side fairing to access the switch's connector.

Ducati Dirty Dozen - Episode 2 (Day 3)
Day 3 of our ride on the Ducati Dirty Dozen challenge. We intentionally skipped over day two. On day 3, we rode 7 peaks: -Stony Pass 12,592ft (3,838m) -Cinnamon Pass 12,620ft (3847m) -California Pass 12,960ft (3950m) -Hurricane Pass 12,730ft (3880m) -Corkscrew Pass 12,244ft (3732m) -Imogene Pass 13,114 (3997m) -Ophir Pass 11,814ft (3601m) Optional, not officially part of the challenge I got our first (and only) flat tire of the trip. Ducati Dirty Dozen - Episode 1
About 20 minutes after Ducati announced their "Dirt Dozen" ride (12 peaks in Colorado over 12,000ft), my friend Spencer and I already had dates picked to make the trip. Despite the dicey weather, the trip was absolutely amazing!
We hit all the required 12 peaks (sadly, except for Black Bear, which was gated and closed due to "unstable ground"). We also rode 4-5 extra credit summits. It was a hell of a trip!

Camel T7 Fairings!
Like most ADV and street bikes, the T7's body panels are from ABS plastic which can crack with even minor impacts; that's less than ideal on an ADV bike! Like many T7 riders, we were waiting for one of the big plastic companies to start producing Tenere panels but no one was doing it... so we did! Our T7 side fairings are made from the same plastic that is used in dirt bike fenders and fairings which is far better suited for your backcountry adventures. T7 Motor Swap
I overheated my T7's motor at the 2022 Desert 100 race after puncturing a rad hose and losing all my coolant. Surprisingly, the motor ran well for over a year before it became hard to start.
I swapped in a low-mileage motor from a crashed MT-07.
