Don't let a broken foot peg mount ruin your ride! The cast aluminum peg mount on the Honda Africa Twin can be problematic for offroad riders. It hangs off the frame about 6" and is easily snapped off. It can be broken in a slow speed low side crash, glancing blow from a rock, log or stump. It can also break if you drop into a rut. A broken foot peg/mount means you can stand up during off road riding and makes rear foot brake pedal operation much more challenging. The difference in suspension ride after the re-sprung and re-valved was night and day. Despite this huge jump over stock we were still having issues with hard bottoming when we were riding hard and fast. The Showa fork (internals) on the Africa Twin are literally from a '89-91 CR500R dirt bike. Obviously suspension technology has improved drastically since '89. On top of the old technology, the CR500 is literally 1/2 the weight of the CRF1000L. No amount of tuning was going to get these forks where I wanted them.The solution? Fork swap! We recently attended the Touratech West Rally in Plain Washington. The rally organizers set up several tracks for attendees to run. The Xfinity route had some nice flowing single track on it. I was on my Africa Twin and was riding with a couple guys on 1290Rs and one on a 990. Good fun mixed in with lots of sweating and some swearing at times in the 100F temps.

A customer gave us a heads up about a conflict with the Touratech crash bars and our high fender kit. The two can work together but some trimming is required on the crash bar mounting bracket as shown below.Thanks for the pics Darren!

I recently found an SD card that had video from a bike trip to Moab, Utah last year. A friend on his KTM 990 Baja, another on his KTM 300XC-W and I me on our shop 1190R spent a week in Moab over Easter weekend 2016. The trails and terrain there are absolutely amazing! My favourite day of the year isn't Christmas, it isn't New Year's, St Patrick's Day or even my birthday. No, without a doubt, my favourite day of the year is a Thursday. This year it was March 30; some years it's a Thursday a week or 2 later. What is so special about this seemingly random day?
